International Women’s Day in BCS

8th March, 2018

Happy International Women’s Day! Students have been having an insightful time here in our primary school as teachers raise awareness to the reasons behind this IMPORTANT day. In grade 1 we have been learning about J.K Rowling and thinking about inspirational women in our lives; in grade 2 in German class we have been looking at our ideal super women and, writing information texts about significant women of our choice; in grade 3 we have been learning about the women’s movement ´The Suffragettes´ and the profoundly relevant Marxist feminist Clara Zetkin; …

… in grade 4 students made a ´significant women inquiry´ and in grade 5 students inquired into women’s rights in connection with their current inquiry on children’s rights. In Art students inquired into the pioneering German (time based artist / animated filmmaker) Lotte Reiniger and in music students experienced the likes of Nina Simone and Buffy Sainte-Marie.
