The 3d Printer Presentation

15th March, 2017

Last week our Math and 3d Printing Club teacher Mr. Purdham presented the 3d printer during the secondary school assembly. It was assembled by a group of seven students ranging from grade seven to nine. He described the process of building it as advanced Lego and said that ‘3d Printing’ was the perfect club for students who are able to work through problems analytically and with patience.

Everyone has heard stories of 3d printers being used to print functioning human organs, houses, shoes and food. Pretty much anything that can be pushed through a tube can be 3d printed. The future is where every household has a 3d printer and whenever you need anything instead of going to the shop you can just print it out.

The ring that our principal Ms. Wende is wearing in the picture is one of eleven rings that were printed in a single setting by a student. The student did not know the diameter of the user’s finger so we printed a range of different sizes so that at least one would fit them. The rest were distributed to various people as souvenirs.
