Grade 1 – Groups

30th March, 2016

For the unit on Groups, we started the year in art with each pupil trying to draw a self portrait then mix and add paint. They then used coloured card cut out and collaged together to make themselves a body. All the portraits were exhibited together and illustrated well how within one class group there can be so many individual differences.

We looked at some basic colour groupings.. Pupils defined the primary colours then learnt how to mix them to make secondary colours, painting their own colour wheels in the process. We also looked at warm and cool colour with pupils mixing and painting the differences on some exercise sheets. Pupils also tried to find appropriate colours from magazines, tear out and paste together to colour a collaged image showing differences between warm and cool colours.
