Grade 7 tour to archeological site

28th May, 2018

On Tuesday, May 5th, archeologist Dr. Jaime Sewell took 7a and 7b on a tour of Berlin, which revealed the medieval roots of the city. Starting at the historical centre of Berlin at the Nikolaikirche, the group made its way over the river Spree to the Fischerinsel, once Berlin’s sister town of Cölln, to the archeological site at Petriplatz. It was fascinating learning first-hand from one of the main site archeologists how they discovered, using highly advance scientific dating techniques, that Cölln was settled over 50 years earlier than previously thought.
